The Calhoun Warriors baseball team hosted and defeated the Greenfield/Northwestern Tigers, 4-3, last Thursday, May 11.
The Warriors win over the Tigers began with a slow start in the first inning which resulted in no runs for either team. The second inning both teams put up a point. The score remained tied, 1-1, until the bottom of the fourth when the Warriors scored two runs, securing a 3-1 lead over the Tigers.
History repeated itself in the fifth inning when the Tigers scored two runs while the Warriors went scoreless, bringing the game to another tie, 3-3. Another scoreless inning in the sixth, carried the teams’ tie into the seventh inning where Calhoun managed to score a single run, which was enough to capture the win, 4-3.
Scoring for the Warriors were Jack Webster with one run, Cooper Klocke with one run, Jack Goode with one run, and Jacob LaMarsh with one run.
Junior Davis Wilson pitched for the Warriors and Brayden Roberts and Wyatt Stuart pitched for the Tigers.
