The Kampsville American Legion Auxiliary will be out Saturday, May 20, distributing poppies to honor our Veterans and collecting donations. The donations will be used to help support our veterans.
This is always a very special thing for me because my dad always distributed for the Hardin American Legion and every year he brought me home a poppy even after I grew up and had my own house– he still brought me one. After he went to the nursing home, I started taking him one. I now make sure, every year since he’s passed, to take one to the cemetery for him. So please, get a Poppie and honor our veterans.
If driving through Hardin, you will see the graduation signs are up on the poles. This is absolutely one of my favorite traditions that came from the pandemic. It’s a wonderful tribute to all of the graduates. Calhoun High School graduation will be this Friday, May 19, in the Mark Baalman Gymnasium.
Calhoun Jr. High graduation will be Thursday, May 18, also in the Mark
Baalman Gymnasium.
Congratulations to the graduates of St. Norbert’s who graduated Friday night. Craig Johnson presented the American Legion Award to Gabby Hurley and Honorable Mention Ethan Wickenhauser. Elizabeth McCasland received the KC Religion Award.
I traveled to Ames, Iowa, this past Friday and Saturday to attend my daughter-in-law Lindsey’s graduation from Iowa State University. I absolutely could not be prouder of her. I had a great time while there visiting with my son, Kyle, and I got to see the grand-dogs, Fin, Fawkes, and Frey. Lindsey’s parents, Randy and Regina Turner, also attended as well as her sister, Earon Lawson; niece, Mia; and nephews, Peyton and Griffon.
A huge thank you to all who came out Saturday in support of the Betty Grissom family and participated in the Betty Run. Also, thanks to all who donated in any way.
The Kampsville American Legion will have their Memorial Day Ceremony Monday, May 29, at The Schumann Memorial Park, beginning at 11 a.m. with a meal to follow at the Legion.
The beautiful quilt donated by Pat Gotway will be on display during the dinner at the Legion where chances will be available for purchase.
Trinity River Festival will be held June 2-4 at McCully Heritage Project. I will have more details next week on this event.
Please continue prayers for Cassie Blackwell, Britney Hayn, Joyce Blumenberg, Jerry Crader, Kathryn Chapman, Bob Banghart, Bruce Williams, Justin Williams, Joe Gress, Raymond Sievers, Isabel McGlaughin, Kurt Roth, Linda Herkert and Sue Aderton.
