The Calhoun Warriors Varsity boys baseball team finished their season with a playoff game loss on Saturday, May 20, against the Greenfield Tigers in the IHSA Class 1A Regional in Greenfield, 4-2.
The game began with an easy first inning for both teams who went scoreless in both the top and bottom of the inning. In the second inning, the Warriors struck first, getting a run across to make it 1-0. The Tigers tied the game in the bottom of the inning with a run of their own.
In the top of the third, the Warriors managed to score yet again and take the lead, 2-1. However, as they had done previously, the Tigers came back in the bottom of the third with two more runs to take back the lead 3-2.
The Warriors stayed quiet in the fourth and fifth. In the bottom of the fifth, the Tigers scored one more run to make it 4-2. Tigers pitcher, Talon Albrecht, went the distance over the entire game, achieving over 10 strikeouts.
The Tigers also had two errors in the game, but the Warriors failed to capitalize on them. The Warriors failed to score any further, and lost 4-2.
This game concluded the Warrior’s season, who finished with a 13-24 overall win-loss record and 6-3 win-loss record in the conference.
