After several vacancies were left on various boards around the county after the April elections, officials in those communities are filling the spots by appointment.
In Nebo, Penny Davidson, Jennifer Quatham and Steve Lemons have been appointed by Tom Williams, village president to fill spots on the board..
“Steve Lemons was appointed to fill a two year term a year or so ago,” Williams said. “I just appointed him to another two year term.”
Ryan Stauffer of Griggsville will serve as Ward 3 alderman. Stauffer’s appointment was made last month, but he was unable to attend the May meeting, according to Kent Goewey, mayor.
“He will be sworn in at the June meeting,” Goeway said.
Kinderhook Village had three vacancies for trustee spots. Village President Danny Mabie said he had convinced the board members, whose terms were expiring, to stay on for two more years. Trustees in Kinderhook include: Bud Malone, Barb Miller, Holly Zuck, Cathy Miller, Tonya Pinkston and Jeremiah Norman.
Detroit offered no choices for any of their village seats. According to Marvin Reel, one of the trustees, the former slate of officers, will continue to serve. Wanda Pennock as village president and Tonya Reel as clerk. Austin Andersonn, Ryan Smith, Marvin Reel and Jenna Sealock will resume trustee duties.
Milton had two seats to fill on their board. A two-year term has been filled by Stan Smith and Doug Whitlock, village president, says he is still looking to fill a four-year term.
Valley City had no candidates for any offices. Linda Kells says she is working with the county clerk’s office on getting those positions filled.
