We all have our freedom thanks to those that made the ultimate sacrifice. The Kampsville American Legion Memorial Day Service was amazing as always and everyone gathered at the Legion for lunch following the service. Delicious food and desserts were served. They don’t come any better than our Kampsville Legion guys.
Legion Auxiliary ladies distributed poppies Saturday morning at the bank.
Our young kids here in Kampsville have been really stepping up and making us proud. On Monday, they helped Mayor Amanda put the flags on the flag poles. They also are helping with keeping our community garden watered. On Wednesday, they put the benches out at the Schumann Memorial Park to help set up for Monday’s service. My family made the decision that instead of putting flowers on Redeye and Millie’s graves for Memorial Day we would make sure their Memorial Park was decorated. My grandson, Hayden, helped me with putting out the flags. My granddaughter, Reagan, took the old lights off of the gazebo and we have all been taking turns with watering. There’s just nothing better than seeing kids proud to help out their town. I’m sure our long-time Mayor Redeye is smiling down.
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream. The Kampsville Kreamery is now open. Owners Bill and Marcia Agney had such a busy day their first day, that they sold completely out of Vanilla. They were restocked and ready on Wednesday and everyone is enjoying it.
McCullys Heritage Project was completely booked for camping on Memorial Day weekend. How wonderful. Mark your calendars June 2-4 Trinity River Festival will be at McCully Heritage Project. It’s a two day music festival featuring 25 regional and local musicians who raise funds to help fund missions in memory of Trinity.
My great nephew Carter Hazelwonder graduated Friday night from North Greene High School. I’m sure many of you here in Kampsville remember Carter and his little sister, Alissa, when they lived here in Kampsville by the bank with their dad, Tim.
The Gress/McGuire/Robeen Reunion will be held June 11 at the former Lutheran Church in Hardin. Dinner will be at noon with lots of love, laughter and good conversation to follow.
A huge happy anniversary to two of my favorite people. Ron and Betty Wendt celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on May 9. They were married in 1953 in Wichita, Texas.
Congratulations to Devin Hayn on the purchase of his new home.
Congratulations to States Attorney Lucas Fanning and his wife, Kyleigh, on the birth of their first child, a beautiful daughter, Lylah Fay Fanning, born May 15 weighing 5lbs and 14 ounces.
Happy Birthday to James Ewen on May 23.
I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Thelma Becker. Thelma was one of the sweetest and kindest ladies I have ever had the honor of knowing. I got to know Thelma as she was helping Cricket Quiller with kids events in our area and with the Belleview Community Church. Please keep her family and friends in your prayers. Please add Sue Aderton to your prayers and continue prayers for Raymond Sievers, Isabel McGlaughin, Kurt Roth, Jerry Crader, Kathryn Chapman, Bob Banghart, Bruce Williams, Justin Williams, Joyce Blumenberg, Linda Herkert and Cassie Blackwell.
