Kayla Boren, South School music teacher, received the Class of 1954 Scholarship Fund’s Staff Recognition Award. Mrs. Boren will receive a $1,000 award. She designated the Pittsfield High School Art Club as the recipient of her $250 pay-it-forward gift.
Her nomination stated: “Mrs. Boren has amazing classroom management skills and keeps all students engaged and motivated through her lessons. She brought back the Spring Music Programs that have not been in place since COVID. For each performance, Mrs. Boren had patience and helped the students as needed. It was amazing to watch nearly 300 students sing, dance, and speak to an audience full of people without hesitation.”
Kathy Lehr, South School paraprofessional, received the Class of 1954 Scholarship Fund’s Staff Recognition Award. Mrs. Lehr will receive a $1,000 award. She asked that her $250 pay-it-forward gift be used to set up an activity account for purchasing sensory materials for South School. Mrs. Lehr would like for others to have the opportunity to donate to this account in the future.
Her nomination stated: “Kathy has been a part of Pikeland for many years. She continually goes out of her way to help others and learns as much as she can about the students she works with. Kathy is calm in situations, the mom of the building, and an emotional support for many!”
