Dalton Hutton scattered six hits over six plus innings, and West Central beat Bushnell-Prairie City 8-3, May 25, in the first round of the Brown County Baseball Sectional.The Cougars (20-9) tied the program record of 20 wins and won the first sectional game in West Central. West Central also won 20 games in 2012.Bushnell took a 1-0 in the third inning a batter walked with one out. The next batter doubled, but Hutton got the next two batters to strike out and fly out to end the inning.The Spartans threatened to score again in the fourth. The leadoff batter singled but was erased in a double play. The next batter reached on an error and a walk put two runners on base, and they moved to second and third base on a wild pitch. The next batter grounded back to Hutton.West Central took command in the sixth inning when they scored seven runs and sent 11 batters to the plate.Caden Meyer walked, Owent Barber singled, and Ryker Ford walked to load the bases. Tyson Brown followed with a singled that drove in the first two runs. After Cameron Sievers had a sacrifice bunt, Mason Berry drove in two more runs with a single.Carson Brown walked, and Landyn Woods singled to drive the fifth run of the inning. After Woods stole second, Hutton singled to drive in two runs to give West Central a 7-1 lead.The Cougars added a run in the sixth inning. Ford and Sievers both singled, and Ford scored when Berry grounded out.Bushnell had three hits and scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh before Tyson Brown got the final out of the game.Hutton struck out eight batters in the game. He also went 1-for-3 and drove in two runs.Berry had two hits, scored one run and drove in three runs for the Cougars. Woods went 2-for-4, scored one run, drove in one run and had a stolen base. Ford went 1-for-3 and scored two runs. Tyson Brown had one hit, scored one run and drove in two runs. Owen Barber went 1-for-4 and scored one run.Carson Brown and Caden Meyer each scored one run. Sievers had one hit. Nick Hamilton had a stolen base.
