We were pretty fortunate here in the Village of Kampsville this past Thursday. We were the only ones in the county that got rain, it lasted about 45 minutes and was much appreciated.
The North Calhoun Fire Department would like to remind everyone that, due to the lack of rain and dry conditions, a burn ban is currently in place.

Congratulations and best wishes to Don Rongey who retired this week from the Kampsville Ferry. I will miss visiting you Don on my trips across the river. I’m sure Sue has a nice list of projects awaiting him.
Congratulations to the Calhoun High School Trap Team– they are first place in State in the 1A Conference 5. Individual Trap Conference awards went to Wyatt Sibley, first; Landon Sievers, second; and Steven Margherio, third. The number two female in the conference is Alyssa Bonner. Congratulations to the whole team. They are all great kids. I have the pleasure of knowing them through my job and I can’t say enough about what polite, upstanding kids they are. I have to talk a little bit more about one of them, Wyatt Sibley, who is a very active member of the Village of Kampsville. He’s helped with the Summer Celebration, Halloween and Christmas parties for as long as I can remember. He’s also usually one of the ones who has to put everything back in the trailer after it’s over and let me tell you that there’s no easy job. I’m sure you have seen him helping at the Christmas party even though he may have seemed a little “Grinchy.” Congratulations to Wyatt– we couldn’t be prouder.
The Hardin Senior Center would like to thank Flowers by Glenda (Glenda Sidwell) for donating the beautiful flowers for their flower boxes in front of the center.

Sympathy to the families of Dan Rose and Bill Hurley who passed away this past week. Bill was an icon in our community. Not only as owner of Hurley Dodge, but his involvement in St. Norbert’s as well as the many boards he served on for the betterment of our county. I don’t think I ever saw him without a smile. Please keep Francie, Bobby, Pat, Tim and Julie in your prayers as well as his grandchildren and brother John. Please add Joan Bove’ to your prayers and continue prayers for Joyce Blumenberg, Linda Herkert, Kurt Roth, Jerry Crader, Kathryn Chapman, Bob Banghart, Bruce Williams, Justin Williams, Joe Gress, Raymond Sievers, Isabel McGlaughin, Cassie Blackwell and Connor Gilman.
