Lloyd Eugene Lawber | 75 | Pittsfield

Lloyd Eugene Lawber, age 75, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Tuesday, Sep. 19, 2023, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. He was born March 29, 1948, in Pittsfield, IL to Walter Lloyd and Velma Lorraine Colvin Lawber. Lloyd married Karen Lawber May 14, 1977, in Franklin Park, IL and she preceded him in death Oct. 12, 2017.

Lloyd graduated from Griggsville High School in 1966 and then attended Ranken Technical School. He was drafted in the United States Army in October 1968 and served during the Vietnam War. Lloyd was awarded a Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Badge with M-60, M-16 and M-14 rifles. He was a self-employed contractor by trade and also offered his volunteer services in many capacities in the community. He was a volunteer at the Dana Thomas House and was awarded the 2020 Governors Volunteer Award. Lloyd was president of Pike County All Wars Museum, which he and his wife helped develop and cultivate into the outstanding tribute to our Pike County veterans. He was instrumental in developing Higbee Memorial Park, was a Paul Harris Fellow award recipient, and chaperoned many Boy Scout trips over the years.

Lloyd is survived by two sons, Jeff (Kim) Lawber of Portland, OR and Ryan (Erinn) Lawber of Chicago, IL; two grandchildren, Emmett Lawber and Ramona Lawber; sister, Debbie Romano; and longtime friend, Peggy Quincy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Velma Lawber; and sister, Donna Coultas.

Funeral service were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, IL with visitation held prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment followed the service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Pittsfield, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to Pike County All Wars Museum. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
