Paula ‘Kathy’ Bess Castleberry | 65 | Loami, Ill.

Paula “Kathy” Bess Castleberry, age 65, of Loami, Il., and formerly of Pike County, Il., passed early Monday (Sept. 25, 2023) at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Il.

She was born Jan. 27, 1958 daughter of the late Junior V. and Zelma E. Bissell Bess.

She married Don Castleberry, Sr. on Oct. 8, 1982 in Alsey, Il. and he survives.

Also surviving are children: Donnetta Castleberry of Springfield, Il., Dianna Castleberry of Loami, Il., Deanna Witt (Christopher) of Havana, Il., Delisa Jones (Shane) of Wood River, Il., Rev. Donald Castleberry, Jr. (Annette) of Pittsfield, Il., Donald Paul Castleberry (Sierra) of Jacksonville, Il., Tiffany Castleberry of Loami, Il., and Jasmine Baker (Terrance) of Jacksonville, Il.; eight grandchildren, Faith, Zeke, Michael, Sidnee, David, Harlee, Jaxon, and T. Wayne; brothers, Gale V. Bess (Sandy) of Evansville, IN., and Brad L. Bess (Lisa) of Ursa, Il; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Marie Jones.

Kathy was a graduate of East Pike High School in Milton, Il. and later graduated Passavant School of Nursing and was an LPN as well as a director of nursing as several area nursing homes. She was a member of Pawnee Assembly of God Church in Pawnee, Il. She loved religious coloring books, listening to music, and spending time with her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday (Sept. 29, 2023) at Pittsfield Assembly of God Church in Pittsfield, Il. Burial will be in Green Pond Cemetery near Milton, Il. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
