A tragic accident Wednesday, Nov. 8, just before 4 p.m., claimed the life of Gavin Kendall, 11, of Pleasant Hill. According to reports, a driver was west bound on Il. Rt. 96 in Pleasant Hill, near the Jiffi Stop when the youth, who was riding a bike, came down a hill and couldn’t stop.
Kendall was pronounced dead at Illini Hospital.
Several teachers at Pleasant Hill Elementary expressed their sadness about the accident, each one talking about what a sweet, caring little boy Gavin was and how much he will be missed.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. in the Pleasant Hill High School Gymnasium. Burial followed at Crescent Heights Cemetery. School was canceled for the day.
No tickets were issued in the accident.
