Zack Evans scored 29 points to lead West Central to a 68-50 win over Western in boys’ basketball Nov. 30 at Barry.
West Central scored the first 10 points of the game and never was threatened.
Carson Brown scored to start the game, and Chance Little scored off an assist from Brown. Little converted a free throw, and the Cougars led 5-0.
Cameron Sievers made a three-point basket, and Evans scored after Sievers had a steal to give West Central a 10-0 lead. They led 11-4 after one quarter.
The Cougars led 28-21 in the second quarter. Nick Hamilton made two three-point baskets in the final minute of the quarter, and West Central led 34-21 at halftime.
Western got within 41-34 in the third quarter before West Central scored six straight points. Ryker Ford scored, and Evans scored twice to extend the lead to 47-34. Evans made a three-point basket to give the Cougars a 54-38 lead at the end of the quarter.
West Central led by as many as 23 points, 65-42, after Little scored with 3:56 remaining in the game.
Little scored 11 points for West Central, and Brown scored 10.
Hamilton and Sievers each scored six points. Caden Meyer scored four points, and Ford scored two.
West Central won the junior varsity game 45-15.
Zac Howard scored 10 points to lead the Cougars. Anthony Hance, Gabe Howard and Charlie Smith each scored six points. Carson Clevenger scored five points.
