Samuel Paul Shonhart | 22 | Bowling Green, Mo.

Samuel Paul Shonhart, age 22, of Bowling Green, MO passed away at his home on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024. He was born on Sept. 4, 2001, in Quincy, IL to David Wayne Shonhart and Teresa Elaine Mallinckrodt-Ham.
Samuel attended Pleasant Hill Schools graduating in 2020. He was active in sports during school and participated in basketball, football, baseball, and track. He holds a state championship title in track for hurdles. During the summers he helped his Grandpa Shonhart and later Mike Black in the construction business. After high school went on to the Oral Roberts College in Tulsa, Oklahoma before returning back to Pike County. He then worked construction for Latham Construction and later worked for the T.A. Truck Repair in Kingdom City as a diesel mechanic. Samuel was currently working for Hogan in Fulton, MO. Samuel was always a fast learner and would research whatever his interest or hobby was at that time. He had his operator license for ham and CB radios. He loved to fish especially bass and he was a passionate duck hunter. He was also a cigar connoisseur and enjoyed playing video games with his friends. He could visit with anyone, anywhere. Samuel was a genuine, open-minded, and dependable man who was simple but extremely intelligent. He beat cancer twice, which instilled in him to live life with confidence and compassion. He was a free spirit with an old soul. Samuel accomplished many things in his 22 years of life, but he was always loyal to his friends and family whom he loved dearly, he will be missed by all who knew him.
Samuel is survived by his parents, David (Brandy) Shonhart of Nebo, IL, Teresa (Gary) Mallinckrodt-Ham of Quincy, IL; grandparents, Edna Shonhart, Rosemary (Wil) Wintjen; brothers, Matthew David (Rachel) Shonhart, Gregory Deon Shonhart, Kelly Russell Ham, Draven Charles Ham; sisters, Demi Nicole (Devin) Clinton, Cassidy Danielle (Hunter) Turner, Tamara Lynn Godwin, and Sabrina Lynn Vize; nieces and nephews, Kyler Phillips, Max Phillips, Maury Kennedy, Conrad Shonhart, Artie Shonhart, Gabriella Clinton, Aquila Clinton Isabella Turner, Lane Turner, and Elizabeth Turner; one aunt, Cindy (Dennis Opitz) Shonhart; one uncle, Deon (Chris) Mallinckrodt; several great aunts, uncles and cousins survive.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Albert ‘Bud’ Mallinckrodt and Gerald Shonhart; stepmother, Beth Baskett; step-grandparents, Johnny Bill and Pat Collins; two aunts, Jackie and Jamie Wintjen.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Interment will follow at the Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, IL. Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 9, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to be made to the Pleasant Hill High School Wood Shop. Online condolences may be left to the family at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
