Batchtown News – June 7, 2023
The Batchtown community enjoyed the nice weather. The long days are great. The farmers are planting their crops and would welcome more rainfall for their crops.

After a hot weekend in the mid 90s, it was very pleasant out this Monday morning at 59 degrees with a predicted high of 88. We still need rain so badly for the crops, gardens, lawns and flowers. No rain is predicted until the weekend, but prayers continue just in case the weatherman is wrong.

We were pretty fortunate here in the Village of Kampsville this past Thursday. We were the only ones in the county that got rain, it lasted about 45 minutes and was much appreciated.

Memorial Day weekend was picture perfect. The Memorial Day Services were held on the cemeteries at St. Joseph’s in Meppen and at St. Norbert’s in Hardin. Father Roberts officiated at the masses.

We all have our freedom thanks to those that made the ultimate sacrifice. The Kampsville American Legion Memorial Day Service was amazing as always and everyone gathered at the Legion for lunch following the service. Delicious food and desserts were served. They don’t come any better than our Kampsville Legion guys.
