The North Greene Lady Warriors volleyball team played host to the Carrollton Lady Hawks last week and both the seventh and the eighth grade Lady Warriors were victorious over the Lady Hawks in straight sets.

The St. John’s Lady Redbirds hosted the Calhoun Lady Warriors last week and gave the fans a night of volleyball to remember. Both the seventh and eighth grade teams took three games to get the win with the eighth grade ending the third game 25-20 to secure the win.

It was a rebuilding year for the North Greene Spartans and while they didn’t rack up too many wins under their belts this season, they did manage to secure a win on their last home game of the season against Greenview. The North Greene Warriors hosted their Little Warrior Tournament last week with several area teams participating in the tournament including Greenfield, Carrollton, St. John’s North Greene, Calhoun, St. Francis and Winchester. The North Greene Warriors played the West Central Cougars in first round action of the Little Warrior Classic Monday night and lost their first game of the tournament to the Cougars 40-15. Earlier in the evening, Carrollton and Greenfield met up on the court with Greenfield coming out on top.

The North Greene Unified Basketball Team hosted a Blue/White Scrimmage to kick off their season on Feb. 7. There are a lot of new members on the team this year ready to show off their basketball and cheer talents. This year’s coaches are Brody Berry and Reese Scott with Bridget Schutz as the student coordinator.…

The St. John’s Redbirds hosted their sixth grade tournament last week, and St. John’s played the Greenfield Tigers on the first day of the tournament. The Tigers came ready to play some ball and ended up easily defeating the Redbirds 34-18.

Junior high volleyball action is in full swing around the area and last week the St. John’s Lady Redbirds played host to Northwestern. Both teams had enough players to have a “C” game so fans were treated to a lot of action Friday night.
