Early deadline for District One scholarship submissions

Carrollton seniors who are intending to apply for the District One Foundation scholarship are reminded that the deadline has been moved up this year. The new due date for scholarship submissions is March 11.
Carrollton School Board member Amber Flowers discussed what she learned at the District One Foundation meeting that she and Carrollton Superintendent Jason Bauer attended at the Oct. 21 school board meeting.
“District One decided to move it up because last year was the first year that they held the ceremony at the First Baptist Church to recognize the scholarship winners and they want to do it again this year,” Flowers said. “To be able to do that again this year, they need to move the date up.”
The board administered the Oath of Office to a new board member. Tracy Randolph took the place of long-time board member Tammy Weber who resigned back in August.
Bauer said he tried to put together a calculation of future enrollment for the district.
“I put together what the current enrollment is and also contacted the principal at St. John’s to get their enrollment and put together some projections,” he said. “Right now the high school has 181 students and the grade school 260, My projects is that we are going to maintain consistency and by 2030 we will still have 177 students at the high school and 260 at the grade school. There is really no scientific way of doing this, however.”
The board discussed what to do with some excess property in the district.
“At the high school, we have too old Pontiac driver’s education car that has been sitting outside for a couple years that we need to get rid of and in the shed we have a couple of state championship signs,” Bauer said. “Someone suggested we auction off the signs and accept sealed bids for the car.”
The board authorized getting rid of this excess district property.
Following an hour-long closed session, the board approved the following personnel issues.
Approved the following volunteer coaches – Amelia Uhles, HS Asst. Softball; Meghan Field, JH Asst. Cheerleading; Ashley Steinacher, JH Asst. Cheerleading and Amanda Rhoades, JH Boys Asst. Basketball.
Extra Curricular coaches with stipend pay – Katie Steinacher, JH Head Softball; Hope Henson, JH Head Volleyball; Ginger Gilmore, HS Asst. Volleyball; Matt Randolph, HS Asst. Boys Basketball; Angie McAdams, HS Asst. Girls Basketball; and Paul Kessinger, HS Asst. Boys Football.
Resignations – Andrea Roach, Bus Driver; Breeanna Young, Teacher at Grade School and Jessica Tucker, Teachers Aide at Grade School.
New Employment – Andrea Pegram – Substitute
Leave of Absence – Kaylea Malott – Nurse.
