April showers couldn’t wait to make their way to Jersey County. Nearly constant rain last week led to flooding throughout the area with water overflowing from creeks, ditches and everywhere else. The rain and flooding even led to a tree coming down on the River Road, with IDOT handling clean up on Saturday. In Grafton, the Mississippi River was observed at 15.73-feet at 3 p.m. on Friday and at 16.47-feet at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. By Monday, April 7, the river was observed at 16-feet and forecasted to stay at that level throughout the week, according to the National Weather Service. The Illinois River in Hardin was at 20.15-feet on Friday, April 4, and was at 22-feet by Monday morning. The river is forecasted to stay around 22-feet throughout the week. The flood stage is 25-feet in Hardin and 20-feet in Grafton.
