Carrollton increases technology fee for next year

Carrollton School Board members approved an increase in the district’s technology fee at the Monday, May 19, school board meeting.
“We are increasing the technology fee by $10, but overall, fees are only going to increase by $3,” Superintendent Jason Bauer said. “We are getting rid of the $7 fee for the student handbooks because they can be accessed electronically now. So, overall, the fee schedule is only going to go up by $3.”
Currently, the technology fee is $30 and will raise to $40 next year.
The board approved the Student Handbook and the Hawk Code.
“We updated those handbooks with no major changes in either of those publications,” Bauer said. “We did the same for the staff handbook and the transportation handbook.”
There was a first reading of policy updates. Bauer said the board discussed the new Title 9 guidelines and reviewed the district’s bullying policy.
“There is nothing really new in the policy update with Title 9,” Bauer said. “We are just reverting back to the 2020 guidelines.”
Also approved was the amended 25-26 school calendar with one slight change.
“We switched Sept. 12 to a School Improvement Day and Sept. 19 to a regular school day,” Bauer said. “All we did is switch the dates.”
Approval was given for an overnight trip for the trap shooting team who are participating in the Nationals in Mason, Mich. from July 9-13.
The grade school improvement plan was approved so now it can be sent to the Board of Education.
A three-year contract with the Carrollton Education Association and the Illinois Federation of Teachers was ratified by the board.
Following a closed session, the following personnel issues were taken.
Approved Victoria Smith as a grade school teacher.
Approved Susan Lieber as middle school English Language Arts teacher.
Approved Kathie Sproull, Brianna Camerer and Beth Heitzig as summer school teachers.
Accepted the resignation of High School Clerk Kit Crawford.
Accepted the resignation of Teacher Assistant Trent Jilg.
Accepted the resignation of Grade School Special Education teacher Emmily Eitzenhefer.
Approved numerous extra-curricular stipend positions, including:
Halle Maul, high school head cheerleading coach.
Jenna Heck and Tiffany Flowers as 2026 class sponsors.
Paul Kesinger and Eric Childs as 2027 class sponsors.
Amy Struble and Kelsey Nunes as 2028 class sponsors.
Sarah Schannot and Austin Morrow as 2029 class sponsors.
Matt Randolph as high school assistant boys basketball coach.
Approved the following volunteer coaching positions:
Sarah Woods as high school assistant cheerleading coach.
Geoff Driskill as high school assistant girls basketball coach.
Terra Lake as high school girls assistant basketball coach.
John Goode as high school assistant boys basketball coach
