Due to the quarantine on birds because of the bird flu epidemic, 4-H members could not travel with poultry projects to the fair. In lieu of presenting their animals for the auction, poultry owners made posters with photos and information about their animal. Prior to the start of the 4-H Livestock auction on Saturday evening, May 31, all of the 4-H members selling animals carried the American flag into the auction ring and sang the national anthem to kick off the event.

Snuggling bunnies at the 4-H rabbit show was a popular event. Mara Wood, of Greenfield, cozies up with her rabbit before meeting with the judge of the show. Wood, along with fourteen other 4-H members sold their rabbits at the 4-H auction on Saturday evening, May 31.

Lucas Howard of Carrollton, drives his barrow in the Greene County 4-H swine show on Saturday, May 31. Howard had reserve champion gilt and won the senior division of the swine showmanship at the 4-H fair. Howard also won the Master Showman award sponsored by the Greene County Farm Bureau earning a spot to compete at the Illinois State Fair and a new shiny belt buckle. Master Showmen must show their knowledge in the show ring with beef, swine and sheep or goats to win this title.
