Mooneyham Art, a cornerstone of the Riverbend area’s vibrant creative community, is proud to present: Bold. Brave. Beautiful. a compelling art exhibition featuring the works of acclaimed local photographer Marty McKay and heirloom & couture jewelry by David Bailey. The artists reception and show opening will take place on July 5th from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at 305 State Street in historic downtown Alton and is free to the public.
Marty McKay, a Riverbend native, has spent her life capturing the breathtaking beauty of everyday moments—from the shimmer of the river to the delicate interplay of light and shadow. Marty’s journey as a photographer was profoundly shaped by her survival story, having twice overcome cancer. McKay’s work is more than a collection of images; it is a testament to resilience, transformation, and the power of perception. Through her lens, she preserves fleeting beauty and celebrates the relentless act of survival.
In addition to McKay’s evocative photography, the exhibition will showcase stunning jewelry and by David Bailey, an Alton-based jeweler and sculptor, whose bold statement pieces blend ancient lost wax techniques with contemporary design. Bailey’s handmade sterling silver creations reflect meticulous craftsmanship, from intricate metal smithing to the seamless inlay of semi-precious stones.
The show will also feature a diverse array of artwork from Mooneyham Art’s resident and guest artists, including Stephen Scordias, Rhonda Willman, Mary Berry, Craig Downs, Gray Finch, Jay Thompson, Natalie Wellborn, Jon Ross-Mooneyham, Claudia Ruth, Sandy Griffin, Jen Fisher, GlamTrash Zodiac, and of course owner Charles Mooneyham.
Psychedelic Symphony will help set the vibe with their classic rock kaleidoscope of sound that will rocket you back to a time when there was a bold focused on freedom, love, equality and acceptance.
Complimentary pastries and non-alcoholic beverages will be available, while adult beverages can be purchased nearby at Solera Wine Bar.
The exhibition is a celebration of creativity, survival, and the artistic community that thrives in Alton. Whether before or after exploring the gallery, attendees are encouraged to visit one of downtown’s many restaurants—Chez Marilyn, located near the Miles Davis statue, comes highly recommended by Mooneyham Art.
Join us in Alton on July 5th for an unforgettable evening of art, music, and dinging. The show will be for the entire month of July and end the first week of August.
