The Winchester Public Library hosts a number of family and child-oriented activities. One such activity is the library’s Story Time, which takes place the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 10-11 a.m. Story Time is facilitated by Kaitlyn Coulter, who says all young children and parents are welcome come participate in reading, singing, and other activities.
The Winchester Public Library recently announced that it was relaunching its after-school Lego Club, which takes place each Wednesday afternoon at the library.
According to Winchester librarian Jeannette Wallace, the club is an opportunity to get kids involved and productive after school.
“Kids just come in and build something with Legos, and then they like to show off what they’ve built,” Wallace said.
Wallace indicated that Lego Club is generally for slightly older elementary and middle school children, but younger children are welcome with a parent’s supervision and assistance.
“It’s mostly for older-than-kindergarten age kids, but younger kids can come, too, as long as a parent accompanies them.”
Lego Club occurs each Wednesday from 2:30-3:30 p.m. at the Winchester Public Library.
Also taking place at the Winchester Public Library on Wednesdays is Story Time.
Story Time takes place the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 10-11 a.m., and Story Time is facilitated by Kaitlyn Coulter.
According to Coulter, Story Time incorporates more than just reading and is designed to engage young children and parents.
“We do all sorts of crafts, sing songs, and have a great time,” Coulter said. “We’re very welcoming of little children and parents to come and visit the library.”
Coulter encourages parents and families to take advantage of the resources available to children and families at the Winchester Public Library.
“There’s a whole children’s room that I don’t think people know about,” Coulter said. “It’s a very underutilized resource.”
Coulter said that she got involved in facilitating Story Time at the library, because she was looking for inexpensive and productive ways to spend time with her own child.
“I have a two-year-old daughter, and I’m a stay-at-home mom,” Coulter said. “I was just looking for ways to get out of the house with my daughter.”
