Prison sentences continue to grow in Greene County as 24-year-old Tyler M. Buckingham was sentenced to seven-and one-half years in the Department of Corrections for Burglary, Theft and Criminal Damage to Property.
Buckingham pled guilty to these charges and was sentenced in Greene County Circuit Court on Nov.20 by Greene County Judge Zachary Schmidt.
According to Greene County States Attorney Craig M. Grummel, Buckingham has repeatedly victimized the citizens of Greene County, causing financial loss, emotional distress and ongoing disruption to hardworking people who deserve better from those who live among them.
“His actions showed a complete disregard for the safety, security and property of this community,” Grummel said in a press release. “Quite frankly, his behavior demonstrates that he has no place in this county.”
Two of the businesses Buckingham broke into sit only yards away from the very courtroom where he was sentenced, which Grummel said is a “stark reminder of how bold and destructive his conduct has been.”
He continued to say that the residents and business owners of Carrollton and Greene County are safer today now that this individual has been removed from the streets.
“This sentence brings a much-needed sense of relief to the victims and to the community as a whole,” Grummel said. “This defendant has repeatedly harmed the people of Greene County and today’s sentence ensures that he will no longer have the opportunity to continue preying on our citizens.”
The Greene County State’s Attorney’s Office extends sincere thanks to the Carrollton Police Department, along with all assisting law-enforcement agencies, for their exceptional work and persistent efforts throughout this case.”
“Their coordinated and tireless investigation directly contributed to this successful outcome,” Grummel said.
