Springfield Calvary scored the last nine points of the third quarter and beat West Central 70-56 in boys’ basketball Nov. 25 at Winchester.
Blayne SIdwell made a three-point basket, and the Cougars led 39-31 with 4:44 remaining in the third quarter. Calvary scored seven points to get within 39-38.
Carson Clevenger scored after grabbing an offensive rebound to give West Central a 41-38 lead. Calvary scored the next nine points and led 47-41 after three quarters.
Calvary scored to start the third quarter and extend their lead to 49-41. They Cougars never got closer than six points during the remainder of the game.
Clevenger made a three-point basket, and West Central led 12-6 in the first quarter.
Calvary scored the next nine points and led 15-12 after one quarter. They led 28-25 at halftime.
Sidwell scored 16 points to lead West Central. Ford scored 13 points, and Gabe Howard scored 10.
Nick Hamilton scored nine points, and Clevenger scored seven. Charlie Smith scored one point.
Blaine Vortman scored 16 points as West Central won the junior varsity game 53-10.
Curtis Renner and Emerson Little each scored eight points. Thrice Kirkpatrick scored seven points, and Brody Blevins scored six.
Cooper Eddinger, Jackson Little and Aydin Kessinger each scored three points. Landon Wahl scored two points.
