A Roodhouse man is facing multiple charges after driving his vehicle into Fernwood Cemetery damaging multiple grave stones and ultimately getting stuck.
According to Roodhouse Police Chief Kyle Robison, his department was notified at around 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning, Dec. 1.
“When our officer arrived at the cemetery, an investigation began,” Robison said. “Several monuments/headstones were damaged. I would estimate at least between 10 to 12 but with the snow it is hard to tell.”
The driver, Cody C. Crum, 34, of Roodhouse, was placed under arrest for criminal damage to property, reckless driving and possession of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Greene County Jail.
“The caretaker of the cemetery was contacted and advised of this incident,” Robison said. “As the snow melts, our agency will do our best to get into contact with family members. If you do not receive a call from our agency, but need to report damage, please reach out to us at 217-589-4348.”
Please provide dispatch with your information. Robison said he will return your call personally over the next few days.
