Nick Hamilton made four free throws in the final 19 seconds, and West Central beat Camp Point Central 48-45 Feb. 17 at Camp Point.
The Cougars finished the regular season 12-17.
Hamilton was fouled on a driving layup with 19.6 seconds remaining. He made both free throws, and the Cougars led 46-45. Camp Point led 45-44 after scoring with 1 minute remaining.
Hamilton made two more free throws with 7.8 seconds remaining after Camp Point play caught a pass out of bounds. Camp Point missed a three-point shot at the buzzer.
Hamilton made two three-point baskets, and Cooper Eddinger made one as West Central jumped out to a 15-12 lead after one quarter. The game was tied at 19, 21 and 26 in the second quarter.
Eddinger made a free throw with 7 seconds remaining, and West Central led 27-26 at halftime.
Blaine Vortman scored, and West Central led 32-30 in the third quarter. Hamilton made a free throw later in the quarter, and the Cougars led 38-32. Camp Point scored the next five points, including a shot from near half-court at the buzzer and cut the margin to 38-37.
Hamilton made two free throws with two minutes remaining and gave West Central a 44-42 lead. Camp Point made a three-point basket with a minute left, to take a one-point lead.
Hamilton scored 18 points and went 8-for-8 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to lead West Central.
Eddinger and Vortman each scored eight points. Clevenger and Landon Wahl each scored six points. Gabe Howard scored two points.
Camp Point Central won the junior varsity game 42-39.
Thrice Kirkpatrick scored 15 points to lead West Central. Jack Little scored six points. Eli Crain and Daxton Littig each scored five points. Emerson Little scored three points, and Curtis Renner scored two. Wahl scored one point.
