The Jersey County Panthers brought in two early runs to help secure their 11-1 win against the Alton Redbirds in last Saturday’s softball match.
The Panthers brought in two runs in the first inning and allowed the Redbirds their only run of the match as Paxton Weirich held the mound for Jersey with seven strikeouts, allowing only three hits.
Weirich was 3 for 3 at the plate with three RBI in the match, while Chloe Beemer had three RBI going 1 for 2 at the plate, and Holly Brainerd was one for two at-bat for the Panthers with one run and two RBI.
The Panthers stood at 3-1 after wins against Collinsville, Greenfield/Northwestern and Alton, and a 2-1 loss against Southwestern.
They host Freeburg on Wednesday, April 1, and Carlinville on Thursday, April 2.
