Dennis W. Lowe, 41, has been sentenced to three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after violating the terms of his probation.
Greene County States Attorney Craig M. Grummel announced that Lowe was sentenced in Greene County Circuit Court on May 7 following his conviction for Driving While License Revoked with Prior Convictions, a Class 4 felony.
Lowe originally pled guilty to the offense on Sept. 2, 2025 and was sentenced to a term of periodic imprisonment and probation. Thereafter, the State filed a Petition to Revoke Probation after Lowe failed to comply with the terms and condition of his probationary sentence.
The case was prosecuted by Grummel and heard by Judge Zachary Schmidt. Lowe was represented by Public Defender Elliott Turpin.
According to court records, Lowe admitted that on Nov. 25, 2022, he knowingly drove a 2012 Ford Escape on Illinois Route 67 near the Roodhouse-Scottville Road in Greene County while his driver’s license was revoked. The revocation stemmed from multiple prior convictions for Driving While License Revoked and an original statutory summary suspension.
The offense was extended term eligible due to Lowe’s criminal history.
“Driving while revoked, particularly after repeated prior convictions, is a serious offense that demonstrates a disregard for the safety of the public and the authority of the Court,” Grummel said. “Probation is an opportunity afforded to defendants to show they can comply with the law and conditions imposed by the Court. When a defendant fails to take probation seriously and refuses to comply with its terms, the State will seek incarceration to protect the public and hold the offender accountable.”
Grummel thanked the Greene County Sheriff’s Department for its work and assistance in the investigation and prosecution of the case.
