Kaylee Spencer and Claire Tate, both graduating seniors at Griggsville-Perry High School, were the winners of the Pike County Home and Community Education Association (HCE) $250 scholarships.
Kaylee, the daughter of Shane and Lisa Spencer, is active in National Honor Society, on the High Honor Roll, received the Excellent Student award in Spanish, is active in FFA, Team Impact, Western Illinois Valley Conference Softball Team, Pike County Conference Softball Team and G-P Volleyball Team. She also is active in UMC Youth Group, 4-H, Snack Pack Organization and has been a Bible School volunteer. Kaylee will attend the University of Missouri and plans to work with large scale bovine genetics to improve the cattle industry.
Claire is the daughter of Jeremy and Alicia Tate. She is an Illinois State Scholar, on the High Honor Roll, active in National Honor Society, Student Council, FFA, Team Impact, Acts of Random Kindness, Volleyball and Softball. Her volunteer activities include the Pike County Animal Shelter, Griggsville Estates, North Pike Pioneer Days and Santa events as well as VBS at several churches. Claire plans to attend Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville to study biology. Her goal is to achieve a doctoral degree in dental medicine.
