A rural Carrollton man has been charged with Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse with the victim being between the age of 13 and 17.
Charges were filed in Greene County Circuit Court on June 9 against Ryan J. Breckon, 46, of rural Carrollton charging him with a single count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse.
According to the charging documents, on or about December 2020 or January 2021, Breckon knowingly committed an act of sexual conduct with a minor who was at least 13 years of age, but under 17 years of age, in that he rubbed, with his hands, the sex organ area of the victim through her clothing.
According to Greene County Sheriff Rob McMillen, the arrest is the end result of a 16-month-long investigation by his department that began back in February of 2021. Once the report was completed, it was turned over to Greene County States Attorney Caleb Briscoe, who determined there was enough evidence to file charges.
Breckon was an acquaintance of both the victim and the victim’s family.
Breckon turned himself into Greene County Jail on June 14 and later that same day posted the 10 percent required of the $25,000 bond and was released.
He is due for a first appearance in Greene County Circuit Court on July 5 at 1:30 p.m.
Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse is a Class 2 Felony, punishable by a term of three to seven years in the Department of Corrections if found guilty and a fine of up to $25,000.
