A quilt will be displayed during the Winchester Car Show on the Square at Marshall Chevrolet. The quilt was presented to car show organizer Terry Aossey by his good friends Bob and Cathy Donovan to celebrate the twelfth Winchester Car Show on the Square. The quilt features each of the twelve shows’ T-shirts.

At last year’s Winchester Car Show on the Square founder Terry Aossey took a moment to show off his own vehicle, a 1940 Chevrolet. This year’s car show will take place around the square on Saturday, July 15 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Like every year, event organizer Terry Aossey expects a good turnout of Midwestern car enthusiasts as participants and attendees during the event.
“We usually have a good turnout,” Aossey said. “We’ll probably break 100, at least. We usually have between 100 and 200 cars. We bring them in from Missouri and some from Iowa and a lot of locals.”
A primary goal of the car show, Aossey said, is to highlight the positive changes that have taken place around downtown Winchester recently – including new businesses and aesthetic/infrastructure improvements.
“We promote the new businesses, like the Mexican restaurant, and the new sidewalks, curbs and lighting,” Aossey said.
Aossey said that the car show is one of the largest events around the square to occur all year.
Attendees, according to Aossey, can expect a variety of food and shopping opportunities around the square during the show.
“We do a poker walk to encourage people to get into the shops,” Aossey said.
In addition, a number of groups and businesses will be serving refreshments during the car show.
“The PEO ladies will be doing lemonade shake ups,” Aossey said. “The Methodist men will have pork chops and hotdogs.”
Aossey added that the brick-and-mortar food service businesses around the square will also be open and selling their wares during the car show.
“The bowling alley will be serving food,” Aossey said. “And Rural Cyclery will be open doing drinks. The grocery store usually has something for the show. We’ve got the Mexican restaurant now, and the ice cream shop will be open. We’ll have plenty to eat!”
A new feature of this year’s car show is a quilt being displayed during the event at Marshall Chevrolet. The quilt was presented to Aossey by his good friends Bob and Cathy Donovan to celebrate the twelve Winchester Car Show on the Square’s that Aossey has organized. The quilt features each of the twelve shows’ T-shirts.
This year’s T-shirts may be purchased the day of the car show. T-shirts are produced by Open House Printshop.
In addition, a 50/50 drawing will be held that day.
Proceeds from all fundraising efforts, according to Aossey, are funneled back to community improvement activities.
“It all goes back to the community,” Aossey said.
