Although no votes were taken, the Pleasant Hill School Board voted at its May meeting to consider three items. The meeting was held May 8.
The board is considering changing the school’s allergy policy as it relates to nut products.
“We have been asked to reconsider the nut-food allergy police,” Kylee Orr, superintendent, said. “Currently we are nut free, but, we’ve been asked to look at it.”
Orr also said the school was considering restructuring the school day for the 2024-25 school year by adding 15 minutes at the end of the day.
“School would be dismissed at 2:45,” Orr said. ‘It would increase the amount of instructional time each day”
Orr said start times would remain the same.
The third consideration was the management of student cell phones. The board is considering purchasing magnetic “pouches” in which students would place their cell phones at the beginning of the school day and at the end of the day, the pouches could be opened. According to Yondr,a company that sells the pouches, the cost would be between $25-$30 per student.
