The 35th Annual Two Rivers Family Fishing Fair is returning to Pere Marquette State Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 8.
The annual event provides families the opportunity to connect with the natural local beauty of Pere Marquette while kids get a chance to cast out their lines and learn about the environment.
Scott Isringhausen, Illinois Department of Natural Resources Urban Fishing Coordinator, told River County News last year that one of the missions of the fishing fair is to get children interested in fishing as well as providing families a chance to connect and discover different outdoor activities.
With tons of different educational activities and plenty of chances to snag a fish, the day is always one to be remembered by families.
This year’s event will feature Fetch-N-Fish Dog Shows, a 4,000 gallon aquarium, Twisted Cat Outdoors, professional crappie fishermen and entertainers Les and Keaton Standstipher, a Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show, and Camo the Clown.
This year’s sponsors that have helped to make the Annual Two Rivers Family Fishing Fair a success include premier sponsors Phillips 66 Wood River Refinery, Farm and Home Supply, Walmart and Dennis Ford, Craig Hudson and John Williams State Farm.
The event is free for everyone to attend with fishing poles, bait and other supplies provided. Volunteers are still needed to help with the various activities that will be available. More information is available by contacting 618-786-3323 ext. 1.
