Jerseyville man charged with intent to deliver fentanyl

A Jersey County man was arrested late last month for felony possession with intent to deliver following an investigation by the Jersey County Sheriff.
Jersey County Sheriff Nicholas Manns said in a press release that on Friday, June 28, State’s Attorney Ben Goetten filed Class 2 Felony charges against Daniel L. DeVerger, 38, for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
An investigation from the Jersey County Sheriff’s Office found DeVerger to be in possession of fentanyl, methamphetamine and other paraphernalia.
“That investigation led to the search of the DeVerger residence in Jerseyville, Illinois, on June 27,” the release states. “During that search, several capsules with fentanyl, several capsules with fentanyl residue, a small quantity of methamphetamine, and other drug paraphernalia were seized.”
The Sheriff’s Office also thanked the Department of Children and Family Services for their help with protecting children found in the residence while conducting the investigation and search.
“The JCSO wants to thank the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) for their assistance in protecting the children found in the residence during the search,” the press release states. “The JCSO also wants to remind would be drug offenders that we will continue to aggressively investigate drug crimes in Jersey County and the municipalities within.”
Reminder that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
