Greenfield School Board members heard what a fabulous season the Tiger Trap Team had during the District Highlights at the Aug. 12 school board meeting.
According to Brandi Rynders, the squad had 17 shooters this year and the 2024 season was very successful.
“The shooters performed in both skeet and trap,” Rynders said. “Both categories placed fifth in the conference and five shooters advanced to the National Shoot in Mason, Mich. and one squad member advanced as an individual to the final competition.”
Superintendent Andy Stumpf reported that the Fiscal Year 2025 tentative budget will be available for viewing on Aug. 16. He was authorized by the board to publish notice and set the date of the budget hearing for Sept. 16 at 6:45 p.m.
The board approved a motion to decline the solar project as presented, due to cost increase.
At the April board meeting, it was reported that Ameren had to do an audit to see how the electrical system was in the school.
“The audit came up short of what we were wanting in order to do a full offset,” Stumpf said. “Our goal was to get 100 percent offset, so the solar panels would offset our electricity by 100 percent or as close as you can get to 100 percent.”
Unless the district upgraded their electrical system, the most they would be able to offset would be 59 percent.
“It was going to cost us between $500,000 to $1 million for Ameren’s upgrade in order for us to get a full offset,” Stumpf said. “The risk just wasn’t worth the reward so we chose not to move forward with that project. We just don’t see spending that kind of money to upgrade Ameren’s substation and us not see the benefit. One of the reasons we were looking to go solar was we were hoping to use the money we saved in power to make improvements to the district.”
The district will be seeking bids to consider a lease to own lift bus.
Rockbridge Manufacturing is still working on the football field entrance sign. Also, the Bridge of Knowledge is currently out of service due to cracks.
In the building update, Stumpf said that the bathroom renovations are completed and new doors have been hung in the gym lobby. However, the district office is still under construction.
According to Stumpf, the weight room renovation is looking great. They have received bids for the air conditioning and electric for the weight room.
Robert’s memorial concrete at the high school is finished and picnic tables have been added for seating for the students.
The elementary playground is finished and Stumpf passed on a thank you to Chris Goode and Chris Weller and to Kaleb Vetter for all of their help in the project.
Stumpf also passed along thanks to Richard, Roshier, Brett, Dave, Shannon Tim and the summer help.
“They have done an awesome job on the elementary floors and cleaning this summer,” Stumpf said. “Every floor in the elementary have been stripped and rewaxed.”
Following a closed session, the board approved several coaching positions:
• Amber Meehan – cross country volunteer coach.
• Jeremy Lansaw – assistant football coach.
• Lisa Meisenheimer – assistant girls pee wee basketball coach and junior high girls basketball coach.
• Jessica Vetter – assistant high school girls basketball coach, volunteer pee-wee girls basketball coach and volunteer girls junior high basketball coach.
In other action, the board:
• Hired Susie Dalton as high school teacher aide.
• Hired Elizabeth Reno as elementary teacher aide.
• Accepted resignation of Mona Plogger as elementary teacher aide.
• Accepted the resignation of Maddie Gillingham as junior high girls head volleyball coach.
• Accepted the resignation of LaCretia Huff as junior high girls track coach.
