Keith ‘Jake’ Reno | 84 | Jerseyville

Keith “Jake” Reno, 84, of Jerseyville died on Friday Nov. 12, 2021 at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jerseyville

Born near Jerseyville on July 31, 1937, he was the son of the late Roy E. and Lucille (Williams) Reno.     He was married to Betty (Camerer) Reno who preceded him in death on May 16,2012.     Surviving are his children: Jim (Nancy) Reno of Carrollton, Melody (Rick) Frank of Jerseyville, step-children: Vicky Rose of Salem, Steve Cress of Godfrey, Debbie (Doug) Geers of Carrollton and Ronald Cress of Nevada, 4 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, several step-great grandchildren, and two sisters: Carrol (Jack) Woods of Belleville and Barb Smith of Springfield.

Preceding Jake in death were his parents, wife, siblings: Edna Martin, Louis Reno, Emma (Betty) Spencer, Darrel Reno, Elmer Reno, Ronnie Reno and Stanley Reno.

Jake’s family bought their farm in Greene Co. in 1942 where the family became established for many years. Jake continued running the family farm after his dad passed away in 1972. Jake and Betty moved to Wyoming in the late 80’s where jake went to work in a coal mine. They eventually moved to Nevada where he retired from Barrick Gold. He loved riding motorcycles and watching motorcycle racing. He loved living next to the train tracks in Carrollton and watching the trains go by. He loved farming and outdoor life. After retiring he loved helping on the farm, raking hay and being out in the open fields. Jake loved family and watching the younger generations grow and doing silly things with them for everyone’s enjoyment.   Jake was a joy to be around and will be greatly missed by anyone who ever knew him.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Thursday Nov. 18, 2021 at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton.
