Riyad T. Abuseirich, 62, Chicago, was seriously injured Friday morning at 5:06 a.m. when the semi he was driving crashed on I-72 near milepost 43 in Scott County.
According to Illinois State Police, Abuseirich was wet bound on I-72 when, for unknown reasons, his 2013 truck tractor semi-trailer left the roadway to the left, entered the median and traveled behind the bridge overpass guardrail.
The unit then went down a steep embankment before striking the ditch.
Abuserich was airlifted from the scene to a regional hospital with what the Illinois State Police described as “serious injuries.”
