Cougars fall to Camp Point; handle North Greene at Griggsville-Perry regional

Tysyn Mast scored 19 points to lead West Central to a 57-16 victory Feb. 19 in the first round of the Griggsville-Perry Regional.
The Cougars (21-10) will play Payson in the regional semifinals Feb. 23 at Griggsville. The regional championship game is Feb. 25.
Mast made a three-point basket, and Lathan Barnett grabbed an offensive rebound and scored as West Central jumped out to a 5-0 lead.
Mast made another three-point after North Greene had gotten with 9-7, and the Cougars led 12-7 after one quarter.
Cole Myer scored, Tyson Brown converted a three-point play, and Mast scored after turnover as West Central extended the lead to 19-7. After North Greene scored to make the score 19-9, the Cougars scored the final 15 points of the first half.
Jaydon Howard scored six points during the run while Mast converted a three-point play. Zack Evans and Brown both scored, and Payton Hartley had a steal and scored on a layup, and West Central led 34-9 at halftime.
West Central outscored North Greene 18-0 in the third quarter to increase the lead to 52-9.
Evans made two three-point baskets and scored eight points in the quarter, and Mast scored five.
Mast also had a team high six rebounds and three steals for West Central.
Evans scored 10 points and had three assists. Brown scored eight points, and Howard scored seven points and had five rebounds. Meyer scored three points.
Barnett, Hartley, Mason Berry and Carson Brown each scored two points. Chance Little and Dalton Hutton each scored one point.
West Central scored just six points in the first quarter and lost 50-43 Feb. 15 at Camp Point Central in the last game of the regulation season.
Camp Point Central led 18-6 after one quarter and 24-14 at halftime. The Panthers led 35-25 after three quarters.
The Cougars made just 16 of 49 (33 percent) of its field goal attempts in the game. Camp Point Central made 19 of 39 (48 percent) of its field goal attempts.
Evans scored 18 points and had five rebounds for West Central.
Mast scored seven points and had five rebounds, four assists and four steals. Meyer scored six points, and Little scored five. Jackson Ford scored four points, and Brown scored three
