Crash at Kane Rd. and U.S. 67 sends Jerseyville man to hospital

A Jerseyville man was flown to a regional hospital Monday afternoon by air ambulance with life-threatening injuries after a crash on U.S. 67 just south of Kane Road.
According to a press release from the Illinois State Police, Winfried Tasker, 53, was on a 1976 Harley Davidson Motorcycle traveling south on U.S. 67 approaching Kane Road at approximately 4:03 p.m. Monday.
Caydn Chapman, 18, of Kane, who was driving a 2008 Dodge Charger was traveling west on Kane Road at U.S. 67, stopped at the stop sign but failed to yield to Tasker and proceeded through the intersection. Tasker struck the rear of Chapman’s vehicle ejecting Tasker from the motorcycle at the intersection.
Tasker was flown from the scene by an AirEvac helicopter with life-threatening injuries. Also responding to the scene was the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, Carrollton Fire Department and the Greene County Ambulance.
U.S. 67 was shut down for more than seven hours while Illinois State Police investigated the crash. It was opened up around 11 p.m.
Chapman was cited for Failure to Yield at an Intersection, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Disobeying a Stop Sign and Failure to Wear Seatbelt by Driver.
