The regular meeting of the Village of Kampsville Board of Trustees took place Monday at St. Anselm’s Hall in Kampsville.
The Board reviewed the minutes from the prior meeting and approved them as amended.
Mayor Wade Gibson presented to the board the updated status of the flood buyout program. “Hardin recently received funds so we should be right behind them,” Gibson explained.
An updated report on the Village Hall roof project was presented to the board, the cost of materials increased since the original bid. Volunteers will provide the roof labor to keep the project costs minimal. The board tabled the discussion until they can clarify what their insurance liability will cover for volunteers.
For new business, the board approved Jennifer Roth as the trustee authorized to renew the buyout loan. Gibson explained that they will be simply, “changing the existing signature from the prior administration.”
The Board is planning to set up a dumpster for two weekends, similar to how it was done last year. The approval of an exact date was tabled until the board could pick an appropriate date based on what other events are scheduled in Kampsville.
The Calhoun County Health Department informed Gibson of complaints regarding abandoned vehicles throughout the Village of Kampsville. Gibson reported, “There will be letters sent out, residents will have seven days to remove the vehicle. After that it will be turned over to the Calhoun County Health Department to take action from there”. Vehicles considered abandoned are those with expired stickers. Vehicles should be licensed or be in storage and out of view. The board’s priority is to make sure all residents know what their rights are on how they can store their vehicles properly. “We will be sure to include all the details in the letters that get mailed out” Gibson added.
The board agreed to accept the donation of a Gaga Ball Pit as an addition to the park in Kampsville. The exact location will be determined by the board later.
Matthew Graven, a representative from Irby Co. presented to the board new water meter options for the City of Kampsville.
“These meters are ultrasonic meters, and they detect water line leaks, temperatures, and bursts,” Graven said.
Graven passed out informational packets to the board that went over pricing on several types of water meters. No approval was made by the board, and they motioned to table the business.
James Palmer was eager to update the board with news about the Kampsville Celebration and Centennial Celebration. The date of the Kampsville Celebration is set for Aug. 20.
“We are planning to schedule a later start time so that way more members of the community can be involved, we will keep everyone updated on the Kampsville Celebration Facebook page,” Palmer concluded.
Gibson went on to remind residents about what is allowed to be burned and what is not. “You cannot burn garbage in the village,” he said. “If you are a business, you cannot have a fire pit, with the exception of burning yard waste from your yard or business.”
Under public comment Jodi Becker and Marsha Agney expressed concerns to the board.
With no other public comment, the board motioned to adjourn the meeting.
The Kampsville Village Board of Trustees are scheduled to meet again on Monday, April 4, at 6:30 p.m. in the St. Anselm’s Hall.
