PCHD says community burden from COVID-19 lessened

COVID-19 case numbers have significantly declined in Pike County, IL since the first of the year. In January 2022, Pike County Health Department (PCHD) was notified of 1,172 new cases of COVID-19 and 12 COVID-19 related deaths. In February 2022, PCHD was notified of 170 new cases and 2 COVID-19 related deaths. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 40.8% of Pike County residents are fully vaccinated as compared to 98.4% statewide.
What Prevention Steps Should You Take Based on Your COVID-19 Community Level? Pike County’s Community Burden Level is currently Medium:

■ Get tested if you have symptoms.

■ If you are at high risk for severe illness, talk to your healthcare provider about whether you need to wear a mask and take other precautions.
■ Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines.
■ Get tested if you have symptoms.
High
■ Wear a mask indoors in public.
■ Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines.
■ Get tested if you have symptoms.
■ Additional precautions may be needed for people at high risk for severe illness.
People may choose to mask at any time. People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask.
PCHD continues to offer free COVID-19 vaccination clinics on Thursdays from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the health department. PCHD also offers free COVID-19 testing Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the health department. Results of testing are typically taking 2-3 days.
