Pritzker honors International Women’s Day

On Monday, as Illinoisans across the state came together to celebrate International Women’s Day, the JB for Governor campaign released the following statement.

“This International Women’s Day––and every day––Governor Pritzker and Lt. Governor Stratton are committed to uplifting the significant contributions of women here in Illinois and all across the globe. Since day one in office, they have fought to make Illinois a beacon for the rights and freedoms that all women deserve,” campaign spokeswoman Natalie Edelstein said. “From strengthening equal pay to enshrining the right to choose into state law, to expanding healthcare coverage for new moms and signing comprehensive legislation to prevent sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace, JB and Juliana have delivered meaningful progress for women in every corner of Illinois. As Republicans here and across the nation work around the clock to strip these hard earned rights from women and families, JB and Juliana will continue to safeguard the progress they’ve made that will benefit generations to come.”

Governor Pritzker has fought for women’s rights his entire life and in 2019 he signed The Reproductive Health Act, the most sweeping abortion rights bill in the country, into law to say, in no uncertain terms, that women’s bodily autonomy is not up for debate in Illinois. As chair of the Illinois Council on Women and Girls, Lt. Gov Stratton has led the fight in Illinois to close the gender pay gap, address gender-based violence, and expand access to enriching academic and economic opportunities for women and girls across the state.
