The Calhoun Warriors did not have the strongest start to their baseball season, suffering three non-conference losses last Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
On Thursday, March 17, the Warriors traveled to Carlinville where they lost in a, 14-0, landslide against the Cavaliers. Carlinville scored in every inning played, putting up two in the first, five in the second, two in the third, and five in the fourth. The game only lasted through the top of the fifth.
The game on Friday, March 18, was more of the same for the Warriors, when they traveled to Jacksonville and lost to the Newark Norsemen, 11-1. Calhoun started off the game with a run in the first inning, but were unable to keep the fire going and went scoreless for the remainder. Newark scored three in the first inning, three in the third, and five in the fifth. The sixth and seventh innings were not played due to Newark’s substantial lead.
Finally, in one last weekend loss, the Warriors traveled to Brimfield on Saturday, March 19, where they fell to the Indians in another landslide, 15-0. Only three innings were played, with the Indians scoring four in the first inning, five in the second, and six in the third.
Following the three losses, Calhoun sits at a 0-3 win-loss record for their season.
The Warriors faced off against Triopia at home on Tuesday, but scores for that game were not available at press time. They will host Barry-Western on Friday, March 25, at 4:30 p.m. and travel to Alton to play against Marquette Catholic on Saturday, March 26, at 10 a.m.
