A one-vehicle accident involving a 2001 Sterling 3-axle dump truck caused the death of David A. Benton, 20, of Roodhouse. The accident was reported to Illinois State Police at 11:09 a.m. March 29 and was on the Alsey-Manchester Road at U.S. 67 in Scott County.
According to ISP reports, the truck was traveling east on the Alsey-Manchester Road about a half mile west of US 67 when, for unknown reasons, the truck left the roadway to the right, struck an embankment and overturned.
ISP says this is an open and on-going investigation and more details may be released later.
