Pittsfield First Christian Church youth group members helped facilitate games following the Golf Cart Club’s Easter Parade on Saturday. The games were loaned to the group by the Assembly of God Church. Following the games, youth group members also waited tables during a meal for veterans hosted by Courtyard Cafe & Bakery. Helping with the day were, in no order, Kacie Lipcaman, youth tri-leader, Ryder Licpaman, Colby Hayes,Isaac McGlaughlen, Brody Tomhave, Evan Darnell, Luke Saxe, Landon Poore, Madelyn Saxe, Brooke Dippel and Lanie Hart. The other leaders of the group are Katie Sidwell and Matt Saxe. Not pictured are group members Josie Pennock and Mariah Thomas.
The youth group from the Pittsfield First Christian Church had a busy day Saturday. They set up and facilitated games on the courthouse lawn after the golf cart parade.
“The Assembly of God loaned us their outdoor games,” youth group leader Kacie Lipcaman said. “Our youth group members were responsible for manning the games and helping kids play.”
Lipcaman estimated that at least 200 community members participated in the courtyard games following the parade.
According to Lipcaman, service to the community is a primary function of the church’s youth group.
“Our youth group is very focused on the mission of the church, which is ‘reach, teach, empower,’” Lipcaman said. “Our youth group is really focused on reaching others.”
Games facilitated by the youth group included putt-putt golf, ski ball, and a roping dummy game.
Following the games on the courtyard lawn, the youth group members went on to serve a special dinner to veterans at Courtyard Cafe & Bakery.
The dinner started with the youth group members singing the National Anthem, saying the Pledge of Allegiance and offering the prayer.
Members went on to act as hosts, serving and busing tables for those in attendance. Members even stayed to clean up after the dinner.
“The kids did all the serving – all the drinks, dinners and desserts,” Lipcaman said. “The kids were such a help, and they were honored to do it. Service is fun.”
The meal was paid for by the Jeep Club and prepared by Courtyard Cafe & Bakery owners Paul and Patty Ruble.
Group members who helped with the day were, youth group leader Kacie Lipcaman, Ryder Licpaman, Colby Hayes,Isaac McGlaughlen, Brody Tomhave, Evan Darnell, Luke Saxe, Landon Poore, Madelyn Saxe, Brooke Dippel and Lanie Hart.
