Illini Community Hospital, Picture Pittsfield and the Pike County Chamber of Commerce hosted a drive-thru county-wide Community Wellness Expo on Saturday, April 23 from 10a.m. to 1p.m. at Pittsfield Lake.
The Drive-Thru Community Wellness Expo showcased 45 exhibitors – encompassing health care providers, human services organizations, wellness choices, and an array of community resources.
Illini Performance Excellence Coordinator Jenna Maki said that the expo aligns with Illini’s overall objective.
“Our mission is to improve the health of our community, and this falls in line with our mission,” Maki said. “We want to show residents what kinds of options are out there.”
Maki said that event planners went out of their way to take a comprehensive approach when considering what types of vendors would be present at the expo.
“We are trying to think outside the box,” Maki said. “We’ve got fitness and recreational places like Twin Pikes YMCA and RxFit.”
Maki also said that North Pike Library and Pittsfield Public Library were on hand to promote their organizations’ story walks.
The wide variety of vendors was designed to attract attendees of all ages and fitness/health levels.
Attendees at the expo drove up the east side of Lake Pittsfield, while gathering an array of health and wellness information. Participants received free tickets for both booth prizes and event grand prizes. A variety of outdoor recreation equipment packages were offered as grand prizes.
