Rachel Allen, a registered nurse in the Emergency Department (ED) at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital, is the nonprofit hospital’s Colleague of the Month for March.
Allen, of Murrayville, has worked at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital for 13 years. She is known for her calm expertise as she delivers care to patients in the ED, hospital officials said.
“When the ED becomes busy, Rachel powers through with the highest professionalism, delivering excellent care to each patient and keeping all charting current,” said Jon Wilkerson, Allen’s co-worker in the ED at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital, who nominated Allen for recognition.
“What is most satisfying about my job is knowing I can make a positive difference for a patient by caring for them to the best of my abilities as their nurse in the ED, when they are going through what may be the hardest time in their lives,” said Allen.
Allen aspires to earn her Certified Emergency Nurse credential and serve as a charge nurse in the ED.
Outside of work, Allen enjoys spending time outside with her two black labs, Jedda and Jasco.
