Saturday, June 4 the South County Library in Brussels is sponsoring the first annual “Art in the Park” event from 1-4 p.m. at Brussels Heritage Park. The event was proposed as a way for the library to support the community and showcase local artists.
Whether you are coming to appreciate the work of local artists, bringing your kids for interactive art activities, grabbing lunch or shopping from local vendors, the afternoon will be full of activities suitable for the whole family.
The following are just a few of the talented artists and artisans that will be featured at the event:
Melissa Underwood Morrissey, author of three children’s books: Shawna’s Sparkle, Einstein the Science Dog: Lost and Found and Travis Finds the Truth.
Helen and Liz Sievers of Tepen Hollow Designs will be selling earrings and key fob wristlets. Their jewelry designs are unique, with themes ranging from Christmas, sports, and school spirit.
Cindy Jenkins plans to sell and display her seasonal glass ornaments and lighted blocks.
Megan Murphy, a local photographer, will be offering hands-on macro photography lessons. The lesson and processing will be $10 per finished image.
Michelle Dale is a self-taught painter– who uses watercolor, acrylic and oil paints– will have her pieces on display as well as a few for sale.
Art in the Park will be a free event for the public to attend. Vendors are still being added to the event. For questions about the event, call the South County Library at 618-883-2522.
