The regular meeting of the Kampsville Board of Trustees was held Monday, June 6, at St. Anselm’s Hall.
Wade Gibson, Mayor of Kampsville called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and the board began by approving the prior minutes and bills. They then went on to approve the treasurer’s report and the water and sewer report.
The board reviewed old business and there was no update on the Flood Buyout Program and Dennis Johnson gave an update on the Village Hall roof damage.
Next, Emily Fortschneider, Engineer at Hennegan and Associates, presented the board with an estimate for the cost to install an emergency rural water hookup.
Fortschneider let the board know about the associated cost for the connection, stating, “For the [Village] of Kampsville, the monthly cost per user would increase by $2 with this emergency connection.”
Ronnie Paul, President of Henneghan and Associates added, “You’ve got an opportunity right now since rural water is already doing a project.”
The board tabled the item until the board members could put together all their questions for Hennegan and Associates and Calhoun County Rural Water.
Gibson presented to the board, under new business, the discussion to withdraw from Calhoun County Building and Zoning.
“I would personally like to answer for our own actions,” Gibson summarized to the board. Approval of this item was tabled until further preparation takes place.
Next, Gibson reported, to the board, an update on regulations in the flood plains.
“Before any work is done on a floodplain you have to get a permit from the village,” Gibson stated.
He added that there is no cost for this permit and the goal is to keep Kampsville in good standing with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
Under discussion, and possible motion, to change the water and sewer rates, Gibson informed the board that “currently we are approximately only billing for 16 percent of the water used.” Effective for August billing, the board approved to increase the water base rate by $3 per month and the sewer base rate by $3 per month.
The Village Trustees and the Mayor gave their comments and then the meeting was adjourned. The Kampsville Board of Trustees meets on the first Monday of each month at the St. Anselm’s Hall at 6:30 p.m.
