On March 2, President Michael Elbe announced he is retiring Dec. 31. John Wood has started the search process for the next President. To assist the Board of Trustees with the search, JWCC has engaged the Pauly Group, Inc., a national search consulting firm that assists in the recruitment and successful hiring of community college executives. The first Presidential Search Committee meeting will occur in early August. The selected candidate will begin in January 2023.
The Board of Trustees considered nominations of internal staff and faculty and sought community representatives to serve on the advisory committee charged with identifying finalists for the Board to consider. After careful deliberation, 15 people were identified to serve on the Presidential Selection Advisory Committee.
The following is a list of the committee members:
JWCC Board, staff and faculty:
• The Board of Trustee members: Bob Rhea and Randy Greenwell.
• Exempt: Diane Vose, Manager of JWCC Regional Centers.
• Non-Exempt: Seth Brammer, Administrator Applications.
Faculty:
• Brenda Graff, Faculty Mathematics, Department Co-Chair.
• Dr. Chris Kaelke, Faculty Natural Sciences & Engineering – Department Chair, President of Faculty Senate.
• Leadership Council: Josh Welker, Dean Business Services, Institutional Effectiveness.
• JWCC Foundation: Dave Rakers, President of JWCC Foundation, First Bankers Trust West Region President.
• Student: Catharine Miller, Student Government President for 2022-2023.
Community Representatives:
• Debbie Reed, President/CEO, Chaddock.
• Jenna Morrow, Executive Director, Pike-Scott Farm Bureau.
• Chaka Batley, Psychiatric – Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Clarity Healthcare.
• Todd Fox, Superintendent of the Southeastern School District.
• Jim Rubottom, Vice President of Human Resources, Knapheide Manufacturing.
• Lydia Miller, Senior Director of Benefits & Compensation, Dot Foods, Inc.
After open forums were conducted in late May and early June, a position profile was developed. Recruiting has begun with an email announcement going out from Pauly Group on June 29th. A presidential search website has been developed. The site provides information to prospective applicants and members of the JWCC community. The Board of Trustees have selected dates in October when Presidential final candidates will be at John Wood Community College. Specifics about each of the dates will be provided in the upcoming months.
