What could make a great day better? Spending it with your grandfather/granddaughter, touring Washington D. C. Raegan Stauffer, accompanied her grandfather Kenny Stauffer on his long-awaited honor flight July 19.
After waiting two years because of Covid, Kenny Stauffer, Griggsville, traveled to Washington D.C. July 19 on the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight out of Springfield, His granddaughter, Raegan Stauffer accompanied him.
The two started with visiting the World War II Memorial, and ended with the changing of the guards at Arlington National Cemetery.
On the flight home, Stauffer received 70 thank you notes from people thanking him for his service. He was so appreciative of the people who took the time to write those notes.
Upon their return, they were met in Springfield by a huge crowd of people waving hands, clapping, cheering and shaking hands.
Stauffer said one of his proudest moments on the trip was watching his granddaughter, Raegan, help other veterans.
